About Step Zero
Step Zero helps social media creators like you authentically champion sustainable living, and grow your influence and business in the process.
We’re a not-for-profit initiative backed by social platforms, brands and climate communication experts who are here to help creators like you use your superpowers to accelerate sustainable living. We recognise the power of storytelling in shaping perceptions and behaviours, and we believe in using this power for the greater good.
Underpinning this purpose is the need to provide creators with science-based recommendations on the individual actions they can take to accelerate the adoption of impactful climate solutions to live more sustainably. Our approach is backed by leading authorities such as the IPCC and Project Drawdown, focusing on actions in areas like Food, Transportation, and Energy to enable a reduction in emissions.
Why is this needed?
Did you know 83% of consumers think social media is a good place to learn how to live sustainably? Or that brands struggle to find social media creators who can explain sustainable products to broad, non-expert audiences? These sound like big opportunities for creators, right?
And yet, creators have told us they aren’t yet comfortable talking about it.
We heard you. Creators’ #1 ask was for help navigating the complexities of talking about sustainable living in authentic, human ways while avoiding the big-yikes of greenwashing and misinformation. Helping you feel confident talking about sustainability is Step Zero’s top priority.

Step Zero provides expertly curated resources, an empowering community and opportunities for creators who take on the challenge of showing their audiences an authentic path towards a more sustainable lifestyle.
Built upon the principles of authenticity, accuracy, and collaboration, Step Zero will strive to dismantle barriers and overcome challenges faced by content creators in promoting sustainable living. Through our collective efforts, we aim to reach 1 billion social media users with sustainability content by 2027.
Launched April 2024, our first priority was to make learning easy. We’ve curated an amazing library to get you started which will be updated regularly.
Step Zero features will expand with live webinars and events coming very soon, plus even more helpful tools to better understand your audience, answer tough questions, and amplify your content.
